CERTH

The Centre for Research and Technology-Hellas (CERTH), founded in 2000, is the only research centre in Northern Greece and one of the largest in the country. CERTH has important scientific and technological achievements in many areas including: Energy, Environment, Industry, Mechatronics, Information & Communication, Transportation & Sustainable Mobility, Health, Agro-biotechnology, Smart farming, Safety & Security, as well as several cross-disciplinary scientific areas. Today CERTH includes the following five institutes: (a) Chemical Process & Energy Resources Institute (CPERI), (b) Information Technologies Institute (ITI), (c) Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT), (d) Institute of Applied Biosciences (INAB), (e) Institute for Research and Technology Thessaly (IRETETH). Out of those, CERTH participates in this project through ITI which is one of the leading Institutions of Greece in the fields of Informatics, Telematics and Telecommunications. More specific, two research groups are working in this project. The first is the MultiMoDal Data Fusion and Analytics Group (M4D) which is a group of the Multimedia Knowledge and Social Media Analytics Laboratory (MKLab) and develops cutting-edge research algorithms and novel solutions in the areas of Multimodal data fusion, Data Mining, Semantic Web, Big data, Multimedia analysis and retrieval and AI-based multimodal analytics for Arts & Media, Health, Security, Earth Observation and Migration domains. The second group is the ConvCΑΟ which is a multidisciplinary group that focuses its research endeavors on large- scale complex cyber-physical systems, such as Swarms of Robots, Autonomous Driving, Smart Buildings, Smart Traffic and Transportation Systems. M4D acts as a scientific and technical coordinator in ISOLA project.
